About 2V

You may remember John Tuvey from such sites as fanball.com or the pages of Fantasy Football Weekly. John has been employed in the fantasy sports industry since 1999, and his work has been featured on AOL, Yahoo, Fantasy Football Trader, Draft Stock, and RotoTimes in addition to Fanball. John was a finalist for the Fantasy Sports Writers Association title of Fantasy Football Writer of the Year for 2007, so he must be pretty good.

John has also co-hosted the popular Fantasy Football Weekly radio show with Paul Charchian and Bo Mitchell (of Bo Knowz fame) on KFAN in Minneapolis and appeared regularly on radio stations in St. Cloud, MN; Lawrence, KS; and New Ulm, MN. Additionally, John and Bo—along with producer Anthony Maggio from Punting Baxter—co-hosted the Fantasy Football Pants Party, which (along with Fantasy Football Weekly) can be found on iTunes.

John’s football background is not limited to watching and writing. Highlights of his playing days include All-Gopher Conference honors as a two-way lineman in high school and a stellar 8-0 record in games he actually played during his four seasons under legendary coach John Gagliardi at St. John’s University.

  • What was your high school record in games you actually played?

  • Rumor has it you discovered, among other things: Jessica Biel, Jeff Tweedy and the South of the Border burger. Can you confirm?

  • 2V –

There was a thread over at another site about the wire.

Click on the link and thank me later.

Thank me later 2v, but get yourself caught up on the Wire.

  • I’ll take credit for discovering Jessica Biel during her “Seventh Heaven” days. In fact, I wrote a matchup for the old “Fantasy Football Weekly” print magazine based on discovering her, an attractive actress hidden in a family-based TV show. If I find it while going through my boxes of stuff I’ll repost it here.

I’ll also take credit for the South of the Border burger at Cuzzy’s. But Bo gets credit for the onion rings, and Slow Dancin’ Dick Hansen gets credit for everything else.

As for Jeff Tweedy, I give all glory to Chris Murphy, a fellow Johnnie and charter member of the 2VFFL (now 18 years strong). I caught on just as Uncle Tupelo broke up, so I followed both Tweedy through Wilco and Jay Farrar through Son Volt. I saw Son Volt at the Minnesota Zoo Amphitheater this summer; typically fantastic show. And my pal Brian Oake of Cities 97 got Murph and I into a soundcheck for Wilco’s show at Northrup Auditorium this fall. Again, amazing talent.

Still working on that high school record. 5-4 as a senior (though I choose to remember the 3-0 start in which we allowed zero points through three games, before injury and eligibility problems sapped our depth). 1-8 as a junior, with the only win coming in overtime against a team that at that time had the longest losing streak in the nation. The Golden Bears were 7-2 or maybe 6-3 my sophomore season; I lettered, but I don’t remember if I played in every game. I think the record was similar my freshman year, though I maybe played in one or two games that year.

Sheesh, you’d think Dad would know; after all, he was the coach!

  • Too bad you couldn’t get into a real college.

    Go Huskies!

  • Thanks for the name drop 2v lmao…..yep, Stewart is gonna be studly!!

    sincerely,
    “TheTAZMan™”

  • The Commissioner

Obviously, the new Fanball is blind to talent, Tuv. It won’t be the same without you and Bo. The value of the information and entertainment took a serious hit.

  • ….and remember…stay classy….or in your case…gassy
